Steve Hodgson, CPTD
President
American Payroll Association
Director of Learning & Development
Originally a member of the American Payroll Association, Steve Hodgson joined the APA staff in 2004. In February 2017, he earned the ATD designation now known as the Certified Professional in Talent Development (CPTD). No stranger to NSA, his first role was hiring professional speakers for APA conferences (ask Marilyn Sherman, Patricia Fripp, and many others!). As a result, he attended three NSA national conferences. Next, he spent 13 years as a full-time instructor, then moved into his current L&D role nearly three years ago. With a B.S. in Music Education, Steve was originally a music teacher over 35 years ago. Throughout several career changes – music, HR, payroll – training was his continuous focus. Now, he’s involved with payroll compliance, regulations, and leadership – not vocal ensembles and music theory!
