Becoming a Great Public Speaker & Trainer: What Does Science Say?

One of the main challenges of public speakers is not knowing which content to put in their slides. If you are a trainer, besides presenting, you might have to create an entire training program for your audience. Sometimes you know what can work best for your learners or audience, but face resistance from your stakeholders to use those effective ideas that are research-backed as well. Primarily, you want to know how you did. So, there is more to becoming a great public speaker and trainer than just creating PowerPoint slides, rehearsing, and presenting them well.

Elham Arabi will share about a program that she’s developed based on a large body of research and her doctoral dissertation. We will discuss how we can bridge the gap between research and practice to design and deliver effective learning experiences (including that of content creation) for your audiences.

Meet Elham:
Elham Arabi is an accomplished learning designer, consultant, and digital learning team lead. Elham has more than 15 years’ experience in instructional design and developing online and blended learning solutions. She earned her PhD in Interaction and Media Sciences from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas. Her thesis was on enhancing training design based on training evaluation to investigate the effects on training transfer. She currently works as a senior learning consultant and researcher at World Health Organization (WHO).
