Happy New Year! Our first meeting of 2023 was a great success! We had so many people at the meeting that we had to order more food for everyone quickly. High Fives abounded, and the support for each other was evident. We greeted several new members and look forward to their contributions in the future.
Our own Darren LaCroix knocked it out of the park with his talk, “17 Minutes to Your Dream”. It is such a privilege to get this vital information from someone who has been there and done that. Through stories of his experiences and lots of laughs, Darren expounded on the three essentials to get the breakthrough you need.
- Decide to just do it! He reminded us that experience is the greatest teacher and that it is as essential to teach others.
- Build a Strategy. Ask yourself what has worked for you in the past. Commit to doing something for your business for just 17 minutes ad day. It is long enough to make progress and short enough that you can make time.
- Be Accountable. Take responsibility for making your dreams happen.

Our next speaker, Cara Siletto, Past President for NSA Kentucky, WOWed us with a talk about building your own training company. She started with the pros and cons of transitioning to being an owner of a company and asked us questions to help us determine if this would be the right fit. She showed us how to take a one-time client and extend the contract by offering different types of training. Keynotes can turn into workshops which can turn into boot camps which can turn into refresher courses and virtual training. Although Cara acknowledged there are many ways to run your training company, she preferred the dive-deep method. Don’t try to be everything to everyone. She suggests deep diving into your topic and being the best at it. It certainly has worked for her. She gave us a great deep dive into many aspects of owning your own training company and step-by-step instructions on how to price your offerings and build amazing boot camps.
