The NSA Las Vegas Chapter has once again organized an event that was both entertaining and informative. The speakers were the best and brightest in the industry, and they shared their insights on how to build a successful business and negotiate effectively, including the subtleties of facial expressions. The event was remarkable, and attendees learned a lot from it.
We were delighted to have Dr. Jeffrey McGee, a fellow NSA Las Vegas Member, as our first speaker. He shared with us his insights on how to distinguish between the “dot” and the “white space” in our businesses. The “dot” represents the tangible aspects of our work, such as the trainings we deliver, the social media posts we create (LinkedIn), and the relationships we build with potential clients and influencers. He urged us to be clear and consistent about our dot, as it is the foundation of our value proposition.
He also explained the significance of the “white space,” which is the intangible dimension of our business model. It is the space where we tap into our creativity, wisdom, experiences, and innovation to design and plan our future offerings. He emphasized the importance of spending time in the white space and recommended that we schedule yearly and quarterly business retreats to stay aligned and inspired in our goals. Dr. McGee’s presentation was enlightening and engaging, and we thank him for his valuable contribution. Whenever you have the opportunity to listen to Dr. McGee, grab hold of it and be ready to receive some of the most useful information you will ever hear. Follow Dr. McGee on LinkedIn and check out his book, Sales Trajectory.
We were thrilled to have Annie Sarnblad, a renowned global speaker and expert in facial expressions, as our next speaker. She demonstrated how her deep knowledge of facial expressions, especially micro-expressions, can help us to read the emotions and intentions of our clients, audiences and trainees. She showed us how to interpret various expressions, such as disgust, joy, sadness, empathy and fear, and how to adjust our approach accordingly. She also taught us to pay attention to the lower part of the face, as well as the eyes, when speaking with people, as they reveal more subtle clues.
Annie’s expertise is not only useful for professionals in negotiations, but also for women and young people who want to identify and avoid potential predators. She has a wealth of resources on her website, including an Expressions Library where you can learn more about facial expressions and their meanings. You can access it here: https://anniesarnblad.com/expressions-library/.
We thank Annie for her fascinating and practical presentation.
Have a happy, healthy, and fruitful month,
Trish Kruse
