WHAT ARE THE CRITICAL “MUST AVOIDS” DEMO REEL?
- Avoid too long of a build up before showcasing you speaking.
- Some people have a voice over or still shots before showing actual footage and meeting planners don’t have time and may lose interest before getting to your speaking footage.
WHY IS A DEMO REEL IMPORTANT? Before hiring a speaker, meeting planners want to see a demonstration of style, performance, and audience reactions. You can’t convey that on a one-sheet or an e-mail description of what you do.
ADVICE FOR EMERGING SPEAKERS about their first demo video?
Be aware that a bad video is worse than no video! So when you have a draft, send it out to more advanced speakers for feedback.
